CAREY — Vendors now may reserve a spot for the annual Carey Business Showcase, organized by the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce. The event will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Waterworks Park main pavilion.

The Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual steak fry Aug. 10 in conjunction with Wyandot Mutual Insurance Co. The location of the event has changed.

FINDLAY — The Hardin Hancock Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2016 summer crisis program will begin Friday and continue through Aug. 31, or until funding is fully exhausted. The program can provide a payment of as much as $300 toward a regulated or as much as $500 toward an unregulated electric bill, a window air conditioner and/or a box fan or tower oscillating electric fan.

Alyssa A. Gottfried, Upper Sandusky, was arrested on a warrant out of Upper Sandusky Municipal Court the evening of June 16 for license forfeiture suspension. Cameron A. Brown, Columbus, turned himself into the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested the morning of June 17 on an indictment warrant for one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Rural Upper Sandusky resident Marie Frey had an extra reason to celebrate on her 86th birthday Sunday — or rather, 86 reasons. As Frey turned 86 years old, she also welcomed her 86th great-grandchild into the world.

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore Community Pool is all set to open if it passes its final inspection at 11 a.m. Friday. The village parks committee met Tuesday with utilities clerk Marie Rotella and village administrator Chuck Clark.

Two supervisors will be elected at the Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual banquet Aug. 25 to serve three years beginning in January. Each county soil and water conservation district in Ohio is governed by a board of five local supervisors.

For approximately 30 years, the Wyandot County Sportsman Association has sponsored a fishing derby in the Upper Sandusky area for youth ages 1-15. This year’s even took place Sunday at Harrison Smith Park.
