Free family camping set

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will offer free family tent camping beginning at 7 p.m. July 29 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598. Families are invited to come any time after 5 p.m. to pitch their tents around the pond at the park.

Stuck in the mud

Saturday’s truck and tractor pulls brought area drivers and spectators to the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. In the 13,000-pound farm stock diesel division, a competitor comes up well short of the winning mark of 315.84 feet, stalling his vehicle on the track.

Resignation leaves council vacancy

A vacancy will need to be filled on Upper Sandusky City Council after councilman Scot Swinehart tenured his resignation, effective immediately, before Monday’s regular meeting. Swinehart, who has served on council since 2011, has been absent from meetings for months for health reasons.

Vacancy to be filled in Carey

CAREY — A vacancy on the Carey Council must be filled in 30 days after council president Armand Getz accepted the mayor’s seat during a regular meeting Monday (see related story on page 1). Those interested must submit a resume to the village by the end of the month.
