Safety Blotter: April 3, 2017

A person came on station to show a video of a possible domestic violence incident the night of March 15. The video showed a woman and man arguing and him claiming she was hitting him, but the officer reported seeing no violence take place.

Safety Blotter: April 1, 2017

An officer responded to a minor crash at Wyandot Memorial Hospital the afternoon of March 15. A woman backed her vehicle into a vehicle owned by an Upper Sandusky woman and then fled the scene. The license plate number given belonged to a Marion woman.

Rathburn sworn in as Carey mayor

Jennifer Rathburn is the new mayor of Carey. Wyandot County Common Pleas Court Judge Kate Aubry swore in Rathburn on Friday. She is the village’s first female mayor and fourth in the last year. The first issue she will face is prayer at council meetings.

Former mayor Getz explains why he didn’t report threats to police

CAREY — Former Carey Mayor Armand Getz said he made law enforcement officials aware of a threat to the village, but he chose not to file a report. While reading his resignation letter during a council meeting March 20, Getz said he received a threat “that would have a very real implication to the health, safety and welfare of the village of Carey.” He declined to reveal what the threat was.

Curbside lanes in downtown Upper now for golf carts only

Wyandot County and Upper Sandusky law enforcement officials disagree about whether golf carts should be driven on the street with cars, and it may hit drivers in their wallets. Sheriff Mike Hetzel said deputies will ticket drivers and immediately tow all golf carts they see driving on Upper Sandusky streets. Violators will face a $100 fine.
