CAREY — Lois Kurtz recently celebrated 65 years of business at Kurtz Shoe Store. Kurtz’s father, Richard E. Kurtz, started the business in 1951, and Lois took over after his death in 1973.

KIRBY — Kirby Village Council announced the village’s 11th annual community clean-up day during its meeting Tuesday evening. The clean-up day is set for May 13.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Wyandot County Department of Job and Family Services celebrates children each year with blue pinwheels on the county courthouse lawn. There are 389 pinwheels lining the lawn this month.

Eight members of Boy Scout Troop No. 125 in Upper Sandusky will head to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this summer and they need your help to get there. Each scout ages 14-17 needs $1,650 to go on the trip and the troop is raising funds to help offset the cost.

A caller reported two loose cows were on the roadway on TH 79 north of CH 42, Crawford Township, the night of March 23. A juvenile was transported to Windsor Laurelwood Behavioral Facility, Willoughby, the morning of March 24.
