Carey BOE considers moving varsity softball games

CAREY — A discussion about moving Carey varsity softball games closer to the school did not result in a decision after a park board public hearing Sunday. Parks Director Brian Spencer said Mayor Jennifer Rathburn and council member Mellisa Cole will compare varsity softball and little league schedules to see if the move is possible.

Proposed watershed project may cause flooding on Riverdale property

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A proposed Blanchard River project to avoid flooding in Findlay could put some of the Riverdale school district’s property in jeopardy of flooding in case of a major rainfall. During the district’s regular board meeting on Monday, board member John Livingston said he and Board President Joan Beckwith recently attended a flood control meeting on the proposal to create a dam on Eagle Creek, Blanchard River and on Potato Run, the last of which would affect school property, he said.

An Antrim Township woman reported three flatscreen televisions were taken from her former residence in the 18000 block of Ohio 231 early the morning of April 12.

Local volunteers Help Build Hope

For the sixth consecutive year, local citizens have gathered on a Saturday morning in an attempt to better the lives of those in need. Approximately 175 people met in the parking lot of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky and built walls for two houses to be given to Habitat for Humanity.

Multiple schools in small rural communities struggle to maintain classes and organizations that deal with the arts alive as they seem to be the first items cut if money ever becomes a problem. Two local school communities have proven themselves as not only districts able to maintain music programs in their schools, but also be one of the top programs at what they do.
