An Upper Sandusky man was sentenced to more than four years in prison on burglary charges Monday in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court. Zachary D. Young, 19, was sentenced to four and a half years on three counts of burglary and two counts of grand theft, all third-degree felonies.

CAREY — A 40-year-old Marion man accused of raping a child was arrested Monday afternoon in Wyandot County. Michael C. Brown is charged with two counts of rape, a first-degree felony, Marion Municipal Court records show.

The Mohawk Board of Education received an update on a five-year fiscal forecast from Treasurer Rhonda Feasel on Monday evening. The forecast focuses on the expected state of Mohawk Local School’s general operating fund.

The Upper Sandusky Police Department responded to reports of seven vehicles being broken into over the weekend. Two vehicles on Summit Street, three vehicles in the 500 block of South Warpole Street, a vehicle in the 300 block of South Eighth Street and a vehicle in the 500 block of South Sandusky Avenue were entered Friday and Saturday, police reports show.

Sarah A. Edgington, Upper Sandusky, was warned for a red light violation on South Eighth Street at South School the afternoon of April 14. An officer responded to a private property crash in the 300 block of Summit Street the evening of April 14.

CAREY — As summer approaches, the American Red Cross and Carey Volunteer Fire Department want to help village residents prevent disaster and, if necessary, beat the heat. As part of a national campaign, volunteers went door to door with fire safety information and free smoke alarms for residents.
