Higher-priced contractor choice proves costly for Carey

CAREY — Carey will receive less than a third of the $1.3 million in federal funding it requested for an electric substation project after village officials chose a higher-priced contractor to do the job. The U.S. Economic Development Agency only awarded the village a $418,000 grant for the Continental Structural Plastics substation project.

Wyandot Co. commissioners hear demonstration farms presentation

The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners heard a presentation Tuesday on a project created by the United States Department of Agriculture and Ohio Farm Bureau. Aaron Heiler, project manager for the Blanchard River Demonstration Farms Network, shared a project primarily operated in Hardin and Hancock counties that aims at filtering water from farming operations before it reaches waterways that lead to the Blanchard River and eventually Lake Erie.
