Wyandot County Commissioners on Thursday approved a $1.2 million contract with a Columbus company to renovate two historical bridges. The Righter Co. will renovate Parker Covered Bridge for $607,988 and Swartz Covered Bridge for $597,672. Ninety-five percent of the cost will be paid for with a federal grant from the Transportation Alternative Program and the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Toll Revenue Credit.

CAREY — Carey Youth Baseball lost a player this season, but the organization and surrounding community will remember the young athlete for years to come. A scoreboard in honor of Ethan Ickes will be donated by Cascade Corp., Findlay, for the CYB fields at Memorial Park.

Upper Sandusky police are investigating thefts of two SUVs stolen in two days. A black 2004 GMC Yukon was reported stolen from a home in the 500 block of North Sandusky Avenue on Friday morning, and a woman in the 1100 block of Edgewood Drive reported her 2009 black Chrysler Aspen stolen Thursday morning.

An officer responded to a report of a turkey in the median of U.S. 23 near Thiel’s Wheels the evening of May 25. The white turkey was caught, and a wound on it made the officer believe it fell from a truck.
