LaRue man, 78, dies from injuries in Forest crash

FOREST — A LaRue man died from injures he suffered in a crash in Forest on Thursday evening. Allen E. Barry, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Life Flight doctor after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and CH 81, according to a Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Video shows Upper man admitting to detectives he helped make meth

An Upper Sandusky man admitted to investigators that he helped produce methamphetamine during a videotaped interview the jury watched during the second day of his trial Wednesday in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court. Benjamin M. Gamble, 26, is charged with a third-degree felony possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs and a first-degree felony complicity to the illegal manufacture of drugs with a juvenile specification.

Riverdale BOE names new superintendent

MOUNT BLANCHARD — With the retirement of Superintendent Eric Hoffman less than five months away, the Riverdale Board of Education selected a familiar face as the district’s next leader. At a special meeting Wednesday afternoon, the board approved a three-year contract for current K-12 Assistant Principal Jeff Young to become Riverdale superintendent, effective Aug. 1. His salary will be $92,500 per year.

Carey releases village’s annual public works report

CAREY — Carey Public Works Director Brian Spencer has released his 2016 report. Spencer’s report was not included in Carey’s annual report released earlier this year after he suffered a broken ankle late last year. He still is not working while recovering from surgery. Carey Public Works saw the departure of two employees and welcomed new employees Robert Breitagam and Brian Morgan last year, Spencer wrote.

Brown pushes bill to expand support for vet caregivers

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) touted bipartisan legislation that would expand support for veterans’ caregivers during a conference call with Ohio media Wednesday afternoon. Michala D. Williams, New Riegel, was cited for failure to yield after a crash at the intersection of TH 124 and CH 44 the afternoon of March 5. Wyandot County Emergency Medical Services transported Williams, her 2-year-old passenger and the other juvenile motorist to Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Marseilles council talks trash, chicken BBQ, park mowing

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Village Council met in regular session Tuesday and Mayor Rick Arnold, Clerk-treasurer Barbara Arnold, Kenneth Arnold, Brad Hensel, Uhl Hensel, John Kennedy and Charlotte Leeth were present. Mayor Rick Arnold called the meeting to order and the minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
