MARSEILLES — Marseilles Village Council met in regular session Tuesday with all members present. In new business, a 2.0 mill levy will be up for renewal in 2018.

CAREY — A scoreboard memorial for Ethan Ickes will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Sunday at the little league baseball fields at Memorial Park. Ickes, a Carey Youth Baseball Junior Pony League player, died April 12 in the emergency room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He was 11.

A man in the 200 block of East Wyandot Avenue reported he and the mother of his child were in an argument when he took her to the ground before releasing her early the morning of June 24. The woman declined to sign charges.

The Speedway west location at 1605 E. Wyandot Ave. at the intersection with the southbound U.S. 23 ramp is adding three diesel fuel lanes for commercial vehicles. Construction on a 44,000-square-foot lot is expected to be completed by late August, according to project superintendent Tim Ashley of River Cities Builders Inc.

Guardian Industries Corp. and its United States subsidiaries awarded scholarships through the Guardian Industries Educational Foundation to 20 students nationwide, with winners representing all of Guardian’s businesses, including Guardian Glass, SRG Global, Guardian Building Products and the corporate office.

FINDLAY — The Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce is set to host a progressive dinner Aug. 8. The event will feature local downtown restaurants, each serving a different course for dinner.

FINDLAY — Robert E. Beach will be recognized as the honorary chairman at the 50th annual Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at the Findlay Country Club. Beach has more than 30 years of banking experience and recently retired as the president and CEO of Commercial Bancshares Inc. and the Commercial Savings Bank, where he served since November 2007.

Upper Sandusky firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the corner area of North Seventh and West Church streets after a crew working on an ongoing storm sewer separation project hit a residential gas line Tuesday morning.

HARPSTER — Megan Watterson led her first council meeting as the interim mayor of Harpster on Tuesday. The former council president took over after Jim Robertson resigned last month.
