The Upper Sandusky Fire Department responded to a report of smoke on the first floor of Quality Inn this morning. Hotel management said the smoke came from a microwave in a room on the first floor; there was no fire.

A deputy responded to a dispute between a landlord and a tenant in the 5700 block of CH 136, Sycamore Township, the afternoon of March 26. Tonya M. Quinichette, Columbus, was cited for speed and driving under non-compliance suspension on U.S. 23 near milepost 8, Pitt Township, the afternoon of March 26.

Wyandot County veterans honored

The Wyandot County Veterans Service Office thanked veterans living at the county skilled nursing and rehabilition center for their service with a special concert and gifts during lunch Wednesday. Each veteran received a certificate, flower courtesy of Richardson’s Flowers, and blanket from Blankets of Love.

County EMS grant app denied; new building project still on

Wyandot County Emergency Medical Services recently was not chosen by the Ohio Development Services Agency as one of the municipalities to receive a grant for public safety. The requested $500,000 through a program provided by the Local Government Innovation Council was to go toward the new EMS building on North Warpole Street currently under construction.

Business auction

Paul Wagner auctions off items for a crowd at the old M.J. Mugsy’s restaurant in downtown Upper Sandusky on Monday. The restaurant closed in January 2016 after 23 years in business.
