Matthew G. Lee, Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested for physical control and cited for possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle the afternoon of April 2 after a caller reported two individuals throwing empty beer cans out of a truck with Texas plates parked at a pond on private property near CH 108 and CH 47, Salem Township.

Grandson of former clerk gives back

A donation from a descendent of a former Upper Sandusky clerk and councilman will fund an impending project to light the Wyandot County Courthouse tower at night. William West, 86, of Denver, Colorado, recently gave $25,000 for renovations to the building where his grandfather’s notes are preserved.

Upper Sandusky student-athletes subject to random drug testing

All Upper Sandusky student-athletes in seventh through 12th grades will be subject to random drug testing beginning in the fall. The Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools Board of Education approved the update to the athletic code of conduct Monday, changes that Superintendent Laurie Vent said were developed with input from a committee of students, parents and school officials.

Sheriff’s deputies respond to calls

Cheryl A. Chaffee, Sycamore, was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to control after a single-vehicle crash on Ohio 67 near milepost 29 early the morning of April 1. Her blood-alcohol content level was .199 percent, more than two times the .08 legal limit to drive in Ohio.
