Couples apply to receive marriage licenses

Upper, Carey named top communities for music ed

Multiple schools in small rural communities struggle to maintain classes and organizations that deal with the arts alive as they seem to be the first items cut if money ever becomes a problem. Two local school communities have proven themselves as not only districts able to maintain music programs in their schools, but also be one of the top programs at what they do.

More charges given in underage incident

Four others have been charged in a Wyandot County underage drinking case in which sheriff’s deputies found a 17-year-old boy drunken and passed out at an April 13 party. Lia G. Arnold of Harpster and Madison M. Casey of Sycamore, both 18, and Derek A. Clark of Upper Sandusky and Carson J. Mittermaier of Wharton, both 19, are charged with offenses involving an underage individual, a first-degree misdemeanor, Upper Sandusky Municipal Court records show.

Dr. Park appointed to WMH board of governors

Dr. Kyle Park was appointed to the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board of Governors by the Joint Township Hospital District Board of Trustees to represent the community at-large. He fills a seat vacated last year by Dr. N. Scott Cisar, who served on the board for 33 years, and meets the requirement of having a physician among its membership.

Authorities seize 13 marijuana plants, 6 pounds of weed in 2 separate Wyandot County ‘4/20’ incidents

SYCAMORE — Wyandot County sheriff’s deputies recovered 13 marijuana plants from a Sycamore barn in the waning hours of “4/20” after a surprised caller stumbled on a grow operation on the edge of his backyard. April 20, sometimes known as Weed Day, is an annual celebration of marijuana, as the number 420 (also 4/20, 4:20; pronounced four-twenty) is a common code associated with the smokable plant.

Wynford HS sees $32,000 in energy savings

BUCYRUS — Wynford High School already is reaping the benefits of the energy savings created through its House Bill 264 project, Superintendent Fred Fox said at Thursday evening’s school board meeting. From December through March, the building’s kilowatt hour production was reduced 80 percent, resulting in a savings of close to $12,000.

Matthew R. Giesey, Fostoria, was arrested on a warrant out of Wyandot County Juvenile Court the night of April 8 for community control violations. Mark A. Radford, address unknown, was arrested for no operator’s license and cited for speed on U.S. 23 near Ohio 199 North the night of April 8.
