MOUNT BLANCHARD — An act of vandalism forced the Riverdale Schools to close Wednesday. According to Superintendent Jeff Young, when the bus drivers conducted their morning pre-route inspections, they discovered 10 buses had flat tires.

BUCYRUS — Student safety was on the minds of the Wynford Board of Education during its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday. Bomb threats have evacuated several schools in Crawford and Marion counties recently, and Wynford Superintendent Fred Fox wanted to make sure students are aware of the consequences of such threats.

Twenty six Upper Sandusky High School junior and senior marketing students competed in the recent DECA District 3 marketing competition at the University of Findlay. Seventeen students won trophies or medals of distinction in their competitive events and will now advance to Ohio DECA Career Development Conference, the state competition, on March 9-10 in Columbus.

Tony Linkmeyer, MHA, FACHE, has been named vice president and chief operating officer at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Linkmeyer is responsible for the management of ancillary patient care departments at WMH, as well as expansion of services and facilities.

Recently appointed State Representative Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) held his first district office hours Tuesday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. McClain represents the 87th District, which comprises all of Wyandot, Crawford and Morrow counties as well as part of Marion and Seneca counties.

CAREY — Carey Village Council on Tuesday untabled an ordinance authorizing and directing the village administrator to advertise for, accept bids and to enter into a contract with the successful lowest and best bidder for the automatic meter reader project.

COLUMBUS — Applications now are being accepted for Class X of AgriPOWER, Ohio Farm Bureau’s elite leadership and advocacy program. Twenty individuals will be selected to participate in the program, which will consist of seven multiday institutes (17 days total). The deadline to apply is April 20.
