Sixth grade volunteers from Union School in Upper Sandusky helped rake and bag leaves Tuesday morning alongside principal Jim Wheeler at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds as part of their day of service.

Christmas spirit

Union School sixth graders Holden Daris, Gabriel Daughenbaugh, Ellie Darnell, Will Ellcessor, Blake Craig and Jaydin Depinet helped set up a Christmas tree Tuesday at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with teacher Beth Richman, who also works at the County Home.

Vehicle break-ins reported at WMH

Three vehicles were broken into Monday evening at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital parking lot. In all three incidents, police reports state a purse was visible inside the vehicle either on a seat or the floor with the doors locked.

ARC, PLC taking applications

Starting Nov. 1, farmers with base acres in the Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage safety net program were able to enroll for the 2018 crop year. The enrollment period ends Aug. 1. Because shares and ownership of a farm can change year-to-year, producers must enroll by signing a contract each program year.

Composting a good use for leaves

BUCYRUS — Leaves are abundant this time of year, and for many, that means time spent raking and removing nature’s fall bounty from yards and gutters. It is important to remember that these leaves, just as they can plug your home gutters and downspouts, also can plug storm drains creating flooding issues in storm drainage systems.
