Fancy Bake Sale 2018

The First Citizens National Bank in Upper Sandusky held its annual Fancy Bake Sale Friday morning. Employees and their families helped donate their best baked goods to the sale, which raised money for United Way of Wyandot County.

Creating fantasies

Traffic on East Wyandot Avenue will be altered in Upper Sandusky this December during the Upper Winter Fantasy of Lights. In coordination with the Upper Sandusky Police Department, traffic will switch to three lanes from the Wyandot County Courthouse to the entrance to Harrison Smith Park on East Wyandot Avenue when the Fantasy of Lights is active from 6-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 6-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The 2018 Home for the Holidays celebration takes place this weekend with events planned for youth, adults and families in downtown Upper Sandusky. First Citizens National Bank will kick things off with its annual Fancy Bake Sale at its main office beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday until it’s sold out.

A large Christmas wreath was hung over the the Wyandot Courthouse entrance Wednesday afternoon with the help of a bucket lift truck from Carl R. Harris Electrical Contracting as well as Dan Harris.

Veterans Service Commission looks at bringing back veterans lunches

The Wyandot County Veterans Service Commission discussed several upcoming events during its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday. Service Officer Theresa Miller proposed bringing back the veterans lunch this year, where representatives from the commission visit Wyandot County nursing homes for a special lunch, and area veterans are given a carnation and a pin.

FINDLAY — Michelle Stratton, RN and forensic nursing program coordinator at Blanchard Valley Hospital, has been named the 2018 International Association of Forensic Nurses Ohio Chapter Forensic Nurse of the Year. According to the Ohio Chapter of the IAFN, forensic nurses of the year are providers who contribute to the development of teaching, disseminating information or promoting forensic nursing in their communities.
