Vickie Underwood, of rural Carey, retired last week as the senior director of human resources at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Underwood has worked at the hospital since 1984 when she was hired by then-administrator John Harbaugh as the executive assistant.

Geremy Van Arkel, CFA of Frontier Asset Management, was the headline speaker Tuesday morning for the Economic Forecast Breakfast at Trinity Evangelical Church. Van Arkel spoke about the history of U.S. economic growth, the current state of the economy and the assets versus stocks.

Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted and state Rep. Riordan McClain will hold regional office hours Thursday in Upper Sandusky. Husted will be available to the public from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wyandot County Courthouse.

FOSTORIA — The Mennel Milling Company has announced the hiring of Michael “Mike” MaGinn as director of operations for the grain division. In his new role, MaGinn will be responsible for the operational oversight of the company’s grain handling and processing assets and functions.

CAREY — The Wyandot County FFA chapters (Carey, Mohawk, Riverdale and Upper Sandusky) are selling fresh strawberries. The proceeds from this sale will be used to conduct and support Wyandot County FFA Activities. The sale continues until Feb. 22.

BUCYRUS — Brian Waters from Ohio State University food science will present on home brewing beers from 6-9 tonight in the Crawford County Courthouse lower level conference room. He will be discussing the brewing process of making all grain mash beers and how different ingredients change the flavor.

The Wyandot and Hardin county Soil and Water Conservation Districts are hosting a Soil Health and Cover Crop workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Wyandot EMS Building, 401 N. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky. During the morning part of the workshop, participants will hear from Jim Hoorman, who is a regional soil health specialist from the northwest region of Ohio and Michigan, Natural Resources Conservation Service.
