Construction almost done at USCL Soon programs at the Upper Sandusky Community Library will be held in a community room/basement free of construction. The Upper Sandusky Community Library board held its May meeting after a month’s hiatus in April, and, Library Director Kathleen Whitt announced that work was expected to be finished early next week. Safety blotter: May 10, 2019 An officer investigated a driverless truck striking another vehicle at the reservoir the afternoon of May 5. The vehicle still was running when the officer arrived at the scene and the officer was able to put the vehicle in park. Photos of the crash were taken and contact was made with the owner, who was on a boat fishing, to collect insurance information. Read More

In-Demand Jobs: Students visit WMH Upper Sandusky High School students were given a tour of Wyandot Memorial Hospital Wednesday as part of Ohio In-Demand Jobs Week. Wyandot Memorial Hospital Vice President of Operations and Quality Valerie Schalk, RN, BSN, led three groups of students on tours of the facility throughout the day with a goal of showing the students potential jobs available in the health care field, including jobs the students don’t typically associate with health care. Shots fired, dog injured in rural Upper Sandusky domestic dispute A dog was injured and a rural Upper Sandusky man was arrested following a domestic incident at which a responding deputy of the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office discharged his weapon early Wednesday morning. A Wyandot County Sheriff’s report states officers were dispatched to a residence on the 5000 block of Ohio 53 at 4:10 a.m. for a male who had been bitten on the face by a dog. The situation evolved into a domestic case when dispatchers were advised the dog’s owner and his father had gotten into a fight. Read More
