Upper muni court cases heard

Darick S. Brunson, Nevada, charged by the state with two counts of worker’s compensation fraud, amended plea to guilty, finding deferred on conditions. Michael B. McLaughlin, Carey, charged by the Carey police with domestic violence, disposition hearing held, found guilty.

April vital statistics report released

Kelli J. Owens, registrar of vital statistics at the Wyandot County Health Department, reports there were 14 births and 18 deaths in the county during April. Births include three females and eleven males; deaths included nine females and nine males. Ninty-six certified birth and 60 certified death certificates were issued. Twenty-four burial permits were issued.

Sheriff releases monthly activity report

Sheriff Michael R. Hetzel has released his activity report for the month of April: Complaints investigated, 204; adult felony arrests, 13; adult misdemeanor arrests, 18; adult traffic arrests, 159;  juvenile traffic arrests, 6; injury traffic crashes investigated, 4 (8 injured); property damage traffic crashes investigated, 24; court papers served, 58; total number of prisoners incarcerated, 71; number of meals served …

Upper students take Click-It-Or-Ticket campaign outside the box

Click-It-Or-Ticket kick-off

Students at Upper Sandusky High School, as part of classroom assignments, helped to kick off the Click-It-Or-Ticket campaign, which started May 20 and will continue through June 2. Claire Russell with Wyandot County Public Health explained that the department has been holding video contests for the past five years in which students at all county schools are invited to create a 30 second video revolving around the message of the click-it-or-ticket campaign, which urges drivers and passengers to buckle up while on the road.

CAREY — Carey senior McKenna K. Kwiatkowski has been named the 2019 valedictorian at Carey High School. Kwiatkowski is a daughter of Melissa Sherman and resides in Carey. She is graduating with a 4.0 GPA and will attend Bowling Green State University with an undecided major.
