Carey amends electric rates CAREY — Carey Village Councilors on Monday unanimously approved the first reading of an electric rate ordinance amending a chapter of the codified ordinances entitled rates. The ordinance, which was tabled at the May 20 council meeting and untabled Monday, will raise the village’s kilowatt per hour energy charge, but get rid of the Power Supply Cost Adjustment charge. Sale of Waterworks Park moves forward An ordinance for the sale of Waterworks Park was approved and adopted during Monday’s Upper Sandusky City Council meeting Monday, although not unanimously. Council member Rick Roberts said he strongly disagreed with the minimum price set for the sale of the property, so he would vote no. The ordinance lists the minimum selling price at $32,000. Perdue recalls products for possible foreign matter WASHINGTON — Perdue Foods LLC., a Bridgewater, Virginia establishment, is recalling approximately 31,703 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of bone material, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Collision A two-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning in Upper Sandusky. The police report states Marcia Wooten, Upper Sandusky, was eastbound in a white 2007 Dodge Dakota on West Wyandot Avenue when she failed to stop for the red light at North Eighth Street, striking the front right of a red 2006 Subaru Forester driven by Joshua Lutz, Upper Sandusky, causing functional damage to Lutz’s vehicle and disabling damage to her own. Summer lunch program starts this week The Wyandot County Mentoring Program will now be holding a weekly summer youth meal called Youth Uplifiting Meals or Y.U.M. from 11:30 to noon Wednesdays June 5 through Aug. 14 at John Stewart United Methodist Church. Raising awareness Area motorcycle enthusiasts held a breast cancer awareness ride Saturday afternoon with proceeds benefiting cancer patients in Wyandot County. The ‘‘Bikin’ for Boobies’ ride left Route 30 Harley-Davidson in Upper Sandusky with over 50 motorcycles and traveled to Desperado’s Bar & Grill in Huntsville, where attendees were treated to live music from Jeff Newland Acoustic. Safety blotter: June 3, 2019 A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on the 1800 block of East Wyandot Avenue the early morning of May 31. The responding officer was unable to locate the vehicle. An Upper Sandusky woman requested a stand by on the 200 block of Richardson Drive the morning of May 31. An officer stood by until the woman had everything she needed and left the area. Read More
