CAREY — Some like to stop and smell the flowers, but Susan Kuhlman takes it a step further, and preserves nature’s beauty in jewelry that can be appreciated for years to come. Kuhlman, a Carey resident who grew up in New Riegel, was browsing Pinterest for crafting ideas a few years ago when she found what soon would grow into a business.

The Fireworks Festival is 6-9 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, 590 Houpt Drive, Upper Sandusky. The festival is free and includes carnival games, face painting and a bounce house. Carnival snacks will be available for free and hot dogs will be available for purchase. Fireworks glasses will be given out to the first 200 visitors.

The heat didn’t prevent the Courthouse Corner project from being completed this week. Janice Woods said work began around 9:30 a.m. and the project was finally finished at 6 p.m. Monday.

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office advised of a reckless driver heading westbound on East Wyandot Avenue near Dollar General the morning of July 3. The responding officer was unable to locate the vehicle. An officer on patrol located a disabled semi-tractor trailer on North Sandusky Avenue at Church Street the morning of July 3. The driver of the vehicle advised he was lost and the officer gave him directions for his destination.

COLUMBUS — Auditor of State Keith Faber recently announced Wyandot Memorial Hospital was among the entities to receive the Auditor of State Award for their clean audit reports. The Auditor’s office presents the Auditor of State Award to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit.

Wyanstock 2019 starts Friday at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds and will continue all day Saturday with its biggest lineup yet. The sixth annual local music festival features a record 15 music acts and is put on by Wyandot County Young Professionals.
