Herring serving on state fair junior fair board

COLUMBUS — A Harpster resident will temporarily make the Ohio State Fair, which starts Wednesday, her home while she serves on the junior fair board. Rachael Herring, a 2019 Upper Sandusky High School graduate, explained that she is in her second year of a two-year program with the junior fair board. She said she was selected through Girl Scouts to serve on the junior fair board. Several different organizations, she explained, select representatives to serve on the junior fair board including Girl Scouts, 4-H, FFA, Technology Education, Grange and Scouts BSA.

Vance St., Carey, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for area residents; and the Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church, 204 S. Main St., Mount Blanchard, is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the heat wave.

Showing of ‘First Man’ relocated due to high temps

Wyandot County Museum Curator Ronald Marvin Jr. said the showing of ‘First Man’ tonight at the Shawkshank Museum has been relocated to the Wyandot County Museum in Upper Sandusky due to the high temperatures. Marvin said doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 7 p.m.

Health leaders warn of dangers of high heat

Highs in the mid 90s with heat index values up to 107 are expected this weekend and an excessive heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday. In hotter temperatures, Wyandot County residents should remember to take extra precautions to avoid dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
