It was a sea of red and green as the Wyandot County Council on Aging celebrated Christmas in July Thursday afternoon with a special Christmas-themed lunch in Upper Sandusky. Attendees enjoyed turkey cranberry sliders and frozen hot chocolate as well as unique shortbread Christmas cookies from Neumeisters, which were decorated by Mandy Baldwin and Amy Gardner to look like Santa buried in sand at the beach.

An officer assisted the Upper Sandusky Fire Department with a fire alarm at Fairhaven Community the early morning of July 25 until he was no longer needed. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reported a private property accident at Speedway West the early morning of July 25. A semi trailer struck a parking pole. Digital photos were taken of the damage and placed on an incident drive.

MARYSVILLE — For those over the age of 40, there is a good chance the soundtrack of their youth includes a heavy dose of 38 Special. And that soundtrack staple is set to perform at this year’s All-Ohio Balloon Fest, Thursday, Aug. 8.

Wednesdays and Saturdays May through October bring a fresh twist to Wyandot County at the Wyandot County farmers market held at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky. Market Master Becky Krock, said the farmers market first started Aug. 8, 1992, and until the 2012 season was held at the Wyandot County Fair Grounds.

Three men were arrested in a residential drug bust Tuesday afternoon in rural Upper Sandusky. A press release from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office states a residential search warrant was executed at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday after a four-week investigation into drug trafficking by the sheriff’s office and the METRICH Enforcement Unit.

The American Red Cross was at Elks Lodge No. 83 Wednesday collecting blood donations. There is currently a blood emergency and the Red Cross was hoping to collect 63 pints Wednesday at the Elks, which organizers said was likely met.

Officers assisted the Upper Sandusky Fire Department with an alarm at First Citizen’s National Bank the morning of July 24. No fire was present, but a fire alarm had been pulled. An Upper Sandusky woman reported the theft of a car battery on the 100 block of Evergreen Lane the afternoon of July 24. Neighbors told the responding officer they did not observe anyone tampering with the vehicle.

Upper Sandusky Domino’s GM Logan Gerdeman hands off an order to a customer Tuesday. Upper Sandusky was one of 167 participating Domino’s locations that donated 10% of sales Tuesday to the Domino’s Pelotonia bike team in the fight against cancer.
