On Aug. 17, Upper Sandusky High School will play host to the “longest veterans parade” as the 2019 Military Vehicle Preservation Association Lincoln Highway Convoy stops for a lunch break along its transcontinental journey from York, Pennsylvania, to San Francisco.

Representatives from several participating businesses from the third annual South Sandusky Block Rally gathered Thursday morning at the Wyandot County Courthouse to present a $2,500 check to the non-profit No One Fights Alone.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Board of Education will be holding a regular meeting 7 p.m. Monday in the Mohawk Community Center.

BUCYRUS — Beyond changing grades and teachers, students, parents and community members can expect many new changes at the Wynford School District in the 2019-2020 school year. After Thursday’s Board of Education meeting, board members toured what will soon form into the new building as well as the changes that have been made at the Elementary School building, including all new windows with special safety features, fresh paint and new ceiling tiles, and several technological advances including all-new interactive flat screens that have replaced the school’s smartboard system, a new visitor check-in system, a new phone system and a new camera surveillance system.

Starting Thursday, the Lincoln Highway BuyWay was in full swing. Homes along Ohio 330 and in the area opened up shop in the form of garage and yard sales for locals and Lincoln Highway travelers alike.

An Upper Sandusky man was arrested at his place of employment in Carey on a warrant for rape charges Wednesday afternoon. A report from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office states Michael L. Gossman, 43, was arrested without incident on a warrant issued out of Wyandot County Common Pleas Court for two counts of rape, a first degree felony.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board discussed creating a new position at the library during its monthly meeting Thursday afternoon. USCL Director Kathleen Whitt said she was swamped with paperwork and was looking into hiring a part-time administrative assistant or giving a current employee extra hours for the specialization.

The Ohio Department of Transportation recently announced the following highway construction scheduled to occur within Wyandot County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions. U.S. 23 between CH 97 and the U.S. 30 interchange, north of Upper Sandusky, will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. Variable speed limit signs will be in place to display the legal, posted speed limit through the work zone. Work is being performed by The Shelly Company, Findlay.

After its inaugural Show and Shine in the Park car show, Wyandot Classics and Cruisers was able to donate over $730 to the Upper Sandusky Park Department.

Jonathan Rieser, Harpster, was cited for expired plates on the 400 block of North Warpole Street the early morning of Aug. 6. Jaclyn M. Schmuker, Nevada, was cited for possession of marijuana at Harrison Smith Park the afternoon of Aug. 6.
