Carey Exempted Village School District welcomes new administrator, teachers CAREY — The Carey Exempted Village School District has welcomed four new teachers and one new administrator this school year. Betsy Speer Betsy Speer will be the new English teacher at Carey High School. Specifically, she will be teaching Advanced English 11, Advanced English 12 and an end-of-course English class. ODOT announces updates to county highway projects The Ohio Department of Transportation released the following updates to highway construction scheduled to occur within Wyandot County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions. U.S. 23 between CH 97 and the U.S. 30 interchange, north of Upper Sandusky, will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. Carey man arrested after juvenile reports home break-in CAREY — According to a release from the Carey Police Department, a call was received at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday from a male juvenile, reporting an unknown male had broken into his house. The juvenile sheltered in an upstairs closet, while waiting for officers to arrive, according to the release. Read More

Marion man sentenced in marijuana possession charge A Marion man was sentenced to community control Wednesday by Wyandot County Common Pleas Court. Owen A. Taylor, 34, of Marion, was originally charged with manufacture of a controlled substance (illegal cultivation of marijuana) and trafficking in drugs (trafficking in marijuana with criminal forfeiture specification) on Dec. 12, 2018. The trafficking charge was dismissed in June and Taylor pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of possession of marijuana, a third degree felony, on June 4, according to Wyandot Common Pleas Court records. Wyandot County Board of Health identifies priorities At its regular meeting Wednesday, the Wyandot County Board of Health discussed its strategic planning process.
