Lightning only thing to slow down Tigers GALION — Upper Sandusky was slow getting to the football field on Friday night opening the game with an unsportsmanlike penalty as it failed to get out of the locker room on time. It may have been a telling sign of things to come as the Rams appeared overmatched against Galion in nonconference play on Friday night. The Tigers were ahead 42-0 with 7:57 to go in the second quarter thanks to a dominant offense and stingy defense that forced two turnovers before the skies lit up and thunder rumbled in the distance, causing both teams to head to the locker rooms and fans to take cover in their vehicles. Ekleberry recognized at Senior Day Sycamore resident Clara “Mickey” Ekleberry was honored Thursday morning in the Masters’ Building as the Wyandot County Senior Citizen of the Year as part of Senior Day festivities at the Wyandot County Fair. Ekleberry’s accomplishments include being a member of the Wyandot County Council on Aging Board, the Wyandot County Community Foundation board of trustees, volunteering for Wyandot Cares, over 25 years served at the Mohawk Community Library and over 60 years with Saint Pius Catholic Church in Sycamore, among others. USCL board discusses after-school behavior The Upper Sandusky Library Board discussed issues with children’s behavior after school during its regular meeting Thursday afternoon. USCL Director Kathleen Whitt said after school programming typically has 30-50 children in the library almost every day. The children sign in, but they can be loud and disruptive, she said. Read More
ODOT announces updates to county highway projects The Ohio Department of Transportation recently announced the following highway construction projects scheduled to occur within Wyandot County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions. U.S. 23 between CH 97 and the U.S. 30 interchange, north of Upper Sandusky, will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. Variable speed limit signs will be in place to display the legal, posted speed limit through the work zone. Read More
