Donation event The Wynford FFA recently had a pork chop barbecue for the teachers, administration and the Adena construction crew. There were 80 meals sold between everyone. Wynford raised $850 with the meals and extra donations. Read More

Carey approves contractor for village sludge removal CAREY — Carey Village Council on Monday approved a motion to accept the lowest and best bid from Agri Solutions, a company in Shreve, near Mansfield, for sludge removal from two ponds at the wastewater treatment plant. In addition to being the lowest and best bidder, Agri Solutions had an opening on their schedule in the middle of October to complete the work to remove the sludge. Read More
Safety blotter: September 17, 2019 A deputy assisted a Sycamore woman with a scam attempt the afternoon of Sept. 12. A company had direct deposited a check into her account, but the check was flagged by the bank. The deputy spoke on the phone to the company that was calling the woman and told them they weren’t getting money from her. Read More
Upper girl donates livestock auction earnings to help family A 9-year-old Upper Sandusky girl donated her Junior Fair Livestock Auction earnings to charity in support of her cousin, aunt and uncle. Paige Vehrs, a fourth-grade student at Union Elementary, donated 100% off the proceeds from her Dairy Beef Feeder project to the Central Ohio Ronald McDonald House, where her Uncle Keith Vehrs and Aunt Elizabeth Vehrs, of Sycamore, are staying while her 1-year-old cousin, Knox, who was born with birth defects, remains hospitalized at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
