ODOT announces updates to county highway projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation released the following highway construction project updates scheduled to occur within Wyandot County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions. U.S. 23 between CH 97 and the U.S. 30 interchange, north of Upper Sandusky, will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. Variable speed limit signs will be in place to display the legal, posted speed limit through the work zone. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.

For the last 70 years, Fairhaven Community has held visitation days, and for the last 40 a visitation day known as Harvest Fest has been bringing residents and the community together. Volunteers, several over the age of 90, and donations make the day possible according to Harvest Fest coordinator Marcy Miller.

Safety blotter: September 27, 2019

An Upper Sandusky woman reported a violation of a no-contact order in a domestic violence case, stating a man had texted her, called her from a relative’s phone and contacted her landlord the morning of Sept. 26. A report was sent to the municipal court and the responding officer advised the woman to get a civil protective order.

The Wyandot Piecemakers Quilt Club continued its 31-year tradition of a quilt donation Wednesday evening at its monthly meeting. For the last two years, the club has donated a quilt to the Special Olympics, which will be given away in a drawing in March 2020, hosted by the Special Olympics.

Woman shocked with stun gun by sheriff’s sergeant in Nevada early Wednesday

NEVADA — A distressed woman was shocked by a stun gun by a sergeant from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office early Wednesday morning in Nevada. According to a report from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Nevada at 3:52 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a woman stating someone was holding her with a gun to her head. An ex-boyfriend of the woman shared pictures of a gun the woman had sent him.

Approximately 150-160 mums from Loveno’s were available for sale in downtown Upper Sandusky on Wednesday evening. One third of the sales were donated towards the Continuing Beautification of Upper Sandusky project, which is used for flowers, Christmas ornaments, decorations and more.
