Wyandot County Public Health receives Safe Communities Grant The Wyandot County Public Health Department was recently awarded $25,000 in federal traffic safety funding by the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office to conduct Safe Communities Grant activities. Funding from the Safe Communities Grant is used to conduct education and awareness campaigns related to motorcycle safety, impaired driving, seat belt usage and distracted driving. The monies also assist the health department in monitoring traffic fatalities that occur in Wyandot County, and in partnering with local and state law enforcement agencies to facilitate coalition building among local agencies and businesses. Jury trial for Tiffin man charged in overdose death continues today Day one of a jury trial in the State of Ohio vs. Aaron J. Schatzinger took place Wednesday in the Wyandot County Courthouse. Schatzinger, 41, of Tiffin, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony, drug abuse (possession of heroin), a fifth-degree felony, and permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony, in relation to the overdose death of Candace Schatzinger on Dec. 20, 2017. Motorcyclist taken by Life Flight after Tuesday morning collision An Upper Sandusky man was transported via medical helicopter after a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle Monday morning in Upper Sandusky. According to a police report, Dylan Neff, 27, of Upper Sandusky, was traveling westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle on East Wyandot Avenue at 6:29 a.m. at an estimated 40 mph, when Aaron Stansbery, 24, of Upper Sandusky, who was traveling eastbound on East Wyandot Avenue in a 1997 Honda Civic, turned left into the Pilot station in front of him, causing a collision.
