Nevada council considers building new village hall NEVADA — With the condition of its village hall deteriorating, Nevada Council is considering its options, including the possibility of a new building. Mohawk BOE raises school lunch prices The Mohawk Board of Education voted to increase lunch prices for the 2019-20 school year at its meeting Monday evening. Treasurer Rhonda Feasel reported the school had a $30,000 deficit in the lunch budget due to experienced staff at the top of the pay scale and having fewer students. She said the budget could survive one more year without making a change but recommended a 25 cent increase, although lunch will need a 50 cent total increase to balance the deficit. Read More
Park board approves purchase of pool sweeper The Upper Sandusky Park Board approved a motion to authorize the park department to purchase a new pool sweeper at Monday’s regular meeting. Pool manager Catie Richman told the board that the current pool sweeper presents a safety issue. The current sweeper sits on the pool deck and the vacuum is hooked up to it and is manually used to sweep the pool, Richman explained. She said that the sweeper requires live wires to be close to the pool, which has presented issues in the past. Read More

Safety blotter: July 9, 2019 Willie T. Thomas, Wooster, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop on U.S. 30 eastbound near CH 128 the early morning of July 8.
