Wyandot Clerk of Courts announces change in Notary Public application

On Dec. 19, 2018, Senate Bill 263, the Notary Public Modernization Act, was passed into legislation and becomes effective Sept. 20. Due to the passage of this legislation, the process for becoming a Notary Public will no longer be done locally in the Clerk of Courts office, but will be processed online through the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, according to Clerk of Courts in Wyandot County, Ann Dunbar.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Riordan McClain of Upper Sandusky was among 36 select lawmakers to complete a leadership training program that identifies and assists emerging state and provincial leaders in the Midwest. McClain met with fellow lawmakers from Ohio, 10 other Midwestern states and three Canadian provinces Aug. 9-13, in Minneapolis, for The Council of State Governments’ 25th annual Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.

Carey Exempted Village School District welcomes new administrator, teachers

Ready to roll

CAREY — The Carey Exempted Village School District has welcomed four new teachers and one new administrator this school year. Betsy Speer Betsy Speer will be the new English teacher at Carey High School. Specifically, she will be teaching Advanced English 11, Advanced English 12 and an end-of-course English class. She also will facilitate the College Credit Plus classes at CHS.

ODOT announces updates to county highway projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation released the following updates to highway construction scheduled to occur within Wyandot County. Work is dependent upon weather conditions. U.S. 23 between CH 97 and the U.S. 30 interchange, north of Upper Sandusky, will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. Variable speed limit signs will be in place to display the legal, posted speed limit through the work zone. Work is being performed by The Shelly Company, Findlay.

Barbershop show Saturday at Star

Tune Squad

Barbershop harmony will return to the Star Theatre in Upper Sandusky on Saturday as the community theater holds its Evening of Barbershop. This biannual concert is held to raise funds for the local theater’s scholarship fund. This year’s lineup of quartets includes The Core, Harmonic Thunder and Tune Squad.
