For friends and 4EverKids Clover Bud members Lucy Fagan, 7, and Olivia Vent, 6, the junior culinary contests were hard work and friendly competition. Both Vent and Fagan saw their projects through to the end by participating in the baked goods auction Tuesday afternoon at the Wyandot County Fair.

SYCAMORE — The Wyandot County Council on Aging and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program were the featured speakers at Tuesday’s Mayor’s Breakfast, which was held at Bowlmor Lanes in Sycamore. Wyandot Council on Aging Executive Director Sherri Wagner explained there is a 1-mill levy for the Council on Aging on the November ballot, which would be a $35 per year increase for owners of a $100,000 home.

Motorcyclists already know how much fun riding can be. They understand the exhilaration of cruising the open road and the challenge of controlling a motorcycle, but, remember, motorcycling can also be dangerous. Across the state, motorcyclists are traveling Ohio roads to enjoy the cooler weather and the beautiful fall foliage, which is why the Wyandot County Safe Community Coalition wants to remind all motorists to “Share the Road.”

SYCAMORE — A new member of Sycamore Village Council was sworn in at Tuesday’s meeting. Shari Ames was appointed to council by Sycamore Mayor Vicki Weininger to serve the final two years of Summer Rhoad’s term. Rhoad resigned from council recently because she moved out of the village.

HARPSTER — Harpster Village Council approved a resolution to accept money from the levies on the ballot last year at its regular meeting Tuesday evening. Fiscal officer Moises Cano said the total amount was $23,468 for the 10-mill limitation.

KIRBY — At its September council meeting Tuesday, Kirby Village Council discussed a proposal from the Ohio Department of Transportation to complete paving in the village on Main Street from the church to the south end of the road within in the village.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Students were evacuated and sent home after smoke from a small grease fire left the hallways of Riverdale School too smoky for students to return to classes Monday.

CAREY — The Carey Exempted Village School District has seen an increase in enrollment of 27 students this school year compared to the end of last school year.

NEVADA — Nevada Council is moving forward with hiring a village employee, something it has long discussed but was unsure it could afford. The village also finally has decided to look at buying a new truck.
