SYCAMORE — First National Bank of Sycamore has hired Sarah Johnson as financial services manager and universal banker. “We are very excited to have Sarah join our team,” President Dean Keller said.

An Upper Sandusky man was transported via medical helicopter after a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle Monday morning in Upper Sandusky. According to a police report, Dylan Neff, 27, of Upper Sandusky, was traveling westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle on East Wyandot Avenue at 6:29 a.m. at an estimated 40 mph, when Aaron Stansbery, 24, of Upper Sandusky, who was traveling eastbound on East Wyandot Avenue in a 1997 Honda Civic, turned left into the Pilot station in front of him, causing a collision.

Former Wyandot County Commissioner Mike Wheeler spoke to U.S. Community Outreach, a nonprofit adult education program run through the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District, Tuesday evening at the Upper Sandusky High School Library about an ongoing effort to restore veterans’ graves around the county.

Also in old business, Stansbery reported he spoke with solicitor Richard Grafmiller about creating a property ordinance and said council could make the contract purely about grass but also could add in stipulations about garbage and other items if it wanted to.

A caller reported their dog got loose on the 300 block of West Bigelow Street the early morning of Oct. 1. The responding officer located the dog and the owner took control of it. The owner was warned for dog at large. Aaron W. Stansbery, Upper Sandusky, was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn, after a two-vehicle crash on East Wyandot Avenue near Pilot station the morning of Oct. 1. An Upper Sandusky man was transported from the scene via Life Flight with suspected serious injuries.

CAREY — The Wyandot County Soil Judging Contest took place Friday, Sept. 20 on the farm of Jim and Vivian Gery north of Carey. Agriculture students from the four county schools competed in two different soil judging contests, the agriculture (rural) contest and the urban contest.

Both the agricultural soils team and the urban soils team from the Upper Sandusky FFA competed at the district contest Sept. 26 in Seneca County at took first place to earn a spot in the state event. There were over 200 students in attendance with 27 agricultural teams and 23 urban teams.

NELSONVILLE — Students from the Upper Sandusky FFA took 12th place as a team in the State Forestry Career Development Event held Saturday at Hocking College in Nelsonville. The Forestry CDE involves numerous activities related to the forest and forest products industry in Ohio that vary from year to year.

The Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District held its annual soil and water tour Monday morning. The tour featured four programs the department works on with area landowners, explaining the programs to area government officials including the Wyandot County Commissioners, State Rep. Riordan McClain and the Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Local School District formally accepted the donation of the new soccer bleachers from the Riverdale Education Foundation on behalf of John and Kay Livingston at its regular board meeting Monday.
