TIFFIN — American Plastics, a premier plastic injection molding company located just south of Tiffin, Ohio, has announced that it will be investing a total of $3.5 million and hiring more than 130 workers by the end of 2019. The new investment and job creation is due to both the acquisition of the former Katy Industries facility by High View Capital in 2018 and the additional business to produce plastic shelving and totes under the Craftsman brand label for Lowe’s.

DEFIANCE — With the distinct message of “It Starts Here.” First Federal Bank and First Insurance Group are putting the power of philanthropy into the hands of their employees. The bank and insurance agency will invest $10,000 into non-profit organizations that their employees are most passionate about as part of their annual Pay it Forward celebration.

Dr. Byron Morales, who deals with population health and wellness at the Wyandot County Memorial Hospital, shared a program Tuesday evening at the Upper Sandusky High School Library sharing information about vaping, juuling and e-cigarettes.

HARPSTER — At its October meeting Harpster Village Council discussed upcoming road projects. Mayor Tom McBride said the Ohio Department of Transportation confirmed the paving project on Ohio 294 would include paving all the way up to the railroad tracks. Council passed an ordinance at its September meeting giving ODOT permission to pave in the Harpster Village Limits. The project will be done at no cost to the village and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2020.

SYCAMORE — A concerned resident addressed Sycamore Village Council during its regular meeting Tuesday about trucks damaging his property. Don Fillmore said big trucks drove through his back yard recently, leaving several ruts and tire tracks between 10 and 20 feet into his property line. He said trees were cut and bushes were removed from the nearby woods.

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Village Council met Tuesday for its regular October meeting and heard from Michael Augenstein from the Mid Ohio Energy Cooperative, who introduced the franchise ordinance for the cooperative. Council held a first reading of the ordinance.

LIMA — The Ohio Department of Transportation District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects in Wyandot County.

FOREST — The McVitty VFW Post No. 1182 and the American Legion Post No. 259 of Forest are holding a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the post, 204 E. Lima St. Meals are all-you-an-eat and the event is open to the public.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville is hosting its Baked Steak Dinner from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 12. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, coleslaw, corn, rolls, butter and drinks.

All are welcome to St. Paul Lutheran’s Oktoberfest event from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the church, 120 N. Eighth St., Upper Sandusky. The event will feature good food and fun.
