The Wyandot Tracers Genealogy Society is holding its annual Pioneer Families of Wyandot County recognition banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Cheers 2U, 119 N. Sandusky St., Upper Sandusky. A buffet style meal will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The Star Players Inc. will present the beloved musical production “The Wizard of Oz,” through Sunday at The Star Theatre, 121 W. Wyandot Ave. Show dates and times are 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, Saturday. There will be two matinee performances at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

I recently went to see “Hustlers,” the movie inspired by a true story about strippers, led in the movie by Jennifer Lopez, who turn to drugging rich men and maxing out their credit cards after a 2008 economic downturn meant fewer men were coming to the clubs.

The Wyandot County Commissioners recently traveled to Washington, D.C., with fellow commissioners from Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky for a Regional State Leadership Day. The commissioners heard from National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler and White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Director Jim Carroll.

The After Hours event hosted by Wagler Badenhop and the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce has been moved to 4-7 p.m. Oct. 17 to accommodate for the United Way Celebrity Bartender event tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Shawshank Woodshop.

Meet and learn about the Wyandot County candidates, levies and state issues at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Upper Sandusky Community Library, 301 N. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky. The event is open to the public.

Wyandot County Public Health is hosting three upcoming walk-in flu clinics in the month of October. A clinic is 3-6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Nevada Fire Hall, Nevada.

An Upper Sandusky woman was walking her dog when it was hit by a car on East Wyandot Avenue near Pilot the early morning of Oct. 9. The dog, a young black lab, had an injury to its rear legs and was bleeding from its mouth and nose. The dog was dispatched at the owner’s request and the owner took it with her for burial.
