National Prescription Take Back Day set for Saturday

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. In cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet, residents are encouraged to turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. County drop-off locations are the Upper Sandusky Police Department at 120 N. Seventh St., the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Department at 125 E. Wyandot Ave., and the Carey Police Department at 127 N. Vance Street, Carey.

City votes to join lawsuit against state regarding tax collection

Upper Sandusky City Council voted unanimously Wednesday in a special meeting to join a coalition of over 100 municipalities retaining special counsel to challenge the constitutionality of amendments to Chapter 718 of the Ohio Revised Code relating to municipal income tax. This all dates back to the passage of HB5 by the state in December 2014, which forced a wide range of changes on city income tax.

Halloween parade tonight

The annual Upper Sandusky Halloween parade sponsored by The American Legion Post No. 225 is 6:30 tonight. Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. at the library for anyone wishing to participate. Sycamore increases fire contracts

SYCAMORE — Contracts for three townships covered by the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department are about to increase. At Tuesday’s Sycamore Village Council meeting, it was announced that Sycamore Township will see an increase of $3,500, Eden Township in Wyandot County will increase by $2,000, and Texas Township also will increase by $2,000.

Many candidates, issues to appear on election ballots

The general election is Nov. 7, and Wyandot County voters will cast ballots on many issues and candidates. Contested races include Upper Sandusky and Carey councils, Carey mayor and Antrim, Mifflin, Richland and Salem township trustees. Six candidates are seeking four positions on Upper Sandusky Council. They are Democrat Roxanna Karg, Independent Tom Karcher and Republicans Aaron Korte, Donald Spiegel, John Walker and Kenneth Wessler.
