LIMA — It started with a text, and eventually, employees and seniors from the Wyandot County Council on Aging and Marion County Council on Aging came together for something they had never done. Ron Boose, assistant to the directors for the WCCOA, received a text message from MCCOA Activities Director Kristi Wink and learned MCCOA employees were planning to take seniors on a tour of the Wilson Sporting Goods Factory in Ada and return to Upper Sandusky for lunch and dessert.

The Wyandot County Council on Aging is raising awareness for its lunch program by inviting community members to special lunches. Last week, it was walking tacos and Wednesday, it was lasagna.

No local contested races will be on the primary ballot for the May 8 election. However, there will be tax initiatives and party votes for state-level candidates, among the Ohio House 87th District, which has three Republican candidates, including newly-appointed Riordan McClain.

The second Farmer’s Appreciation Breakfast was held from Tuesday morning at the Sycamore Community Center. Farmers and community leaders from Wyandot and Seneca counties were invited to the event, which was hosted by the First National Bank of Sycamore.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore Volunteer Fire Chief Rodney Clinger provided an update on Engine 120 at Tuesday’s Sycamore Village Council meeting. Clinger reported Engine 120 is still in the shop.

CAREY — Over the past month, Carey FFA members have been conquering one of the most feared things to people: public speaking. First-year members learned and recited the FFA Creed on their way to earning Greenhand FFA Degrees.

The Wyandot County FSA County Office Committee (COC) has named Deb Rellinger, of Upper Sandusky, as COC adviser. Advisers play an important role by providing diverse viewpoints and by representing the interests of minorities and women in decisions made by county committees.

The Upper Sandusky Police Department did some community outreach yesterday when its K-9 unit D’jeki and Officer Andrew Silcox, provided a demonstration on locating drugs for residents at Fairhaven Community.
