Crawford SWCD hosting meeting

BUCYRUS — The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a meeting for area agricultural producers interested in the current status and latest technologies of applying nutrients to cropland from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Wayside Family Life Center, 2341 Kerstetter Road, Bucyrus.

Upper travels to National Convention

American FFA Degree recipients

The Upper Sandusky FFA recently attended the 91st National FFA Convention to listen to motivational speakers, learn about agriculture on educational tours and to celebrate with the American Degree recipients. All of the Wyandot County FFA chapters, including Mohawk, Carey and Riverdale, traveled together to Indianapolis, Indiana, for this convention.

Carey FFA attends Greenhand Camp

CAREY — On Oct. 7 and 8, 18 Carey FFA members, along with four counselors, attended the Wyandot County Greenhand Camp at Camp Glen. While at this camp, members not only prepared themselves to get their Greenhand FFA Degrees, but also had the opportunity to get to know some of the other FFA members from Upper Sandusky, Mohawk and Riverdale.

Sycamore native interns at extension office

MARION — Joanna Lininger, of Sycamore, recently completed an internship with the Ohio State University Extension, Marion County, in Marion. During her internship, Lininger created materials and videos for all extension programs — 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences and ag and natural resources.

Acreage reporting dates changed

All producers are reminded that the acreage reporting date for fall-seeded crops has changed and the acreage reporting date is Dec. 15. This applies to all fall-seeded crops including fall barley, fall wheat and all other fall-seeded small grains. Call to schedule an appointment to certify wheat crops.

Tree windbreak program available

BUCYRUS — The Northwest Ohio Windbreak Program is a great opportunity for landowners to establish tree windbreaks in the county to help reduce soil erosion, control drifting snow and improve wildlife habitat. The program is offered through the ODNR Division of Forestry and provides assistance with planning and planting windbreaks.
