CAREY — Carey Fest returns next weekend with a familiar slate of features. Now in its 36th year, the annual downtown festival has become a staple in the village. Somewhere along the way, the community bought in, festival president Steve Zender said.

The Star Players Inc. was established in 1977 when a group of local residents interested in community theatre came together. Since then, many directors and volunteers have worked tirelessly on shows at the Star Theatre.

MARION — Palace Theatre technical director Mark Meginness, along with Palace volunteer advisory committee members, will meet with potential Palace volunteers interested in technical positions at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Palace Theatre Rotary Room.

TOLEDO — Masterworks Chorale, Toledo’s premiere mixed voice ensemble, is having adult and high school intern auditions for the 2016-17 season. Adult singer auditions are 2:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 8-11 in the choir room at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 W. Central Ave., Toledo.

KIRBY — The Transfiguration of the Lord St. Mary’s/Kirby Festival is Saturday and Sunday in Kirby. The festival is 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, which is considered “Adult Night Out.”

FINDLAY — This year’s Rib-Off on Broadway will feature the fourth annual Battle of the Bands and country artist Natalie Stovall and the Drive. Rib-Off on Broadway takes place from 3-11 p.m. Aug. 6 in downtown Findlay on Broadway Street between Main Cross and Front streets).

CAREY — Carey Fest is Aug. 5-6 in downtown Carey with homecoming Aug. 4 at Waterworks Park. The homecoming schedule includes the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce business showcase, Carey FFA farm petting zoo and children’s games at 5 p.m., Black Swamp Raptor birds of prey exhibit at 5:30 p.m. and classic rock band Expando Band from 5:30-9 p.m.

MARION — Set the Stage theater camps at the historic Marion Palace Theatre, located in downtown Marion, offer youth ages 6-15 the opportunity to become involved in the arts. Students may choose between camp dates July 25-29 and Aug. 1-5.
