Special choir forming at OLC Shrine

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, is inviting area singers to join the 2016 Assumption Choir, which, along with a brass quintet, will lead music for the Vigil Mass of the Assumption at Shrine Park at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

Applications being accepted for grants

The Wyandot County Community Foundation now is accepting applications for its 2016 grant program. The community foundation will award a number of small grants to Wyandot County 501(c)3 organizations, schools or government units to support their programs.

Humane Society: July 12, 2016

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on July 7 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a black and white female beagle, a brown female Australian shepherd-German shepherd mix, a brindle and brown male boxer-miniature pinscher, a black female Labrador with white on her chest, a tiger and white neutered male cat, a gray neutered male cat, a brown male dachshund mix, a yellow male kitten, a yellow and white male kitten and a neutered male long-hair yellow cat.

Lawn fete to benefit resource center

Community Christian Center, 10657 TH 122, Upper Sandusky, will host a lawn fete and social fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. Saturday to benefit Open Door Resource Center. The menu will include homemade chicken and noodles, shredded chicken, sloppy joe, hot dog and coney dog sandwiches, baked beans, macaroni and potato salad, macaroni and cheese, pies, cakes, cookies, canned pop and bottled water.

Red Cross recruiting volunteers to support disaster relief efforts

FINDLAY — The American Red Cross of North Central Ohio is recruiting volunteers to join its workforce to help families affected by an increase in disasters caused by home fires and severe storms across the country. In the past several days, the Ohio Buckeye Region of the Red Cross has sent 19 volunteers to respond to the devastating flooding in West Virginia, according to a press release from the local Red Cross chapter.

Park district activities slated

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will host archery games and a youth nature exploration in the coming weeks. Area residents are invited to join park district naturalist Lisa Bogard at 6 p.m. July 15 for archery games at Unger Park, 1303 Bucyrus Nevada Road, west of Bucyrus.
