TIFFIN — The Kaiser Family Foundation recently released a report on opioid overdose deaths for calendar year 2014 that shows 1 in 9 heroin deaths across the U.S. happened in Ohio and 1 in 14 synthetic opioid deaths across the nation occurred in the state.

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay Concert-Chorale, which includes students and community members, is recruiting choristers for its April 2 spring concert featuring Gabriel Faure’s pieces, including “Requiem.” An audition is required to join the group, but no preparation is necessary.

BUCYRUS — Wynford Junior High students who have met the criteria of a 3.5 GPA or better for the first quarter of the grading period are determined as scholar athletes for the 2016 winter sports season.

A local effort is underway to collect fire relief items to be delivered to Gatlinburg, Tennesse, on Dec. 21. All household items are needed, as well as cleaning, personal hygiene and baby supplies, hats, gloves, coats, clothes and socks in all sizes.
