‘This is Your Life’

Mohawk Historical Society will present a “This is Your Life” program honoring the lives of Marcille (Kuncy) Moore, Nancy (Curlis) Robinson and Jean (Ludwig) Curlis at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sycamore United Methodist church. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Wexner study: Meniscus surgery holds even in heavier patients

COLUMBUS — A new study by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that heavier patients had no greater risk of their meniscus repair surgery failing than those who weren’t as heavy. The results may be surprising to some orthopaedic surgeons who may assume that more weight means more pressure on the knee joint and a higher risk that the surgical repair might fail.

HHWP Home Energy Assistance Program continues through Aug. 31

FINDLAY — Hardin Hancock Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s Home Energy Assistance Program 2017 Summer Crisis Program continues through Aug. 31 or until funding or equipment is exhausted. This program may provide a payment of up to $300 toward a regulated or up to $500 toward an unregulated electric bill or a window air conditioner or a tower oscillating electric fan.

Page Turners book club to meet in Carey

CAREY — The Carey Page Turners will meet to discuss the book “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dorcas Carey Public Library. Don Tillman, a brilliant yet socially inept professor of genetics, has decided it’s time he found a wife.

Wynford Junior High to host back-to-school event Tuesday

BUCYRUS — Wynford Junior High will host a back-to-school night and new student orientation for students in grades seven through nine starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Seventh-graders can undergo vision screenings, student paperwork can be filled out and class fees paid in the gymnasium, and there will be Progressbook access in the cafeteria from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Special choir forming at OLC Shrine

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation invites area singers to join the 2017 Assumption Choir. The choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead music for more than 10,000 people attending the Vigil Mass of the Assumption at 9:30 p.m. Monday at Shrine Park.
