BEREA — A pair of Upper Sandusky High School graduates and residents of Upper Sandusky were among nearly 600 first-year students who claimed more than $7.7 million in merit scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University. Megan Hensel is majoring in pre-physical therapy and earned a $12,000 dean’s scholarship.

Meeting minutes: October 24, 2018

The Kappa chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met Oct. 13 at Upper Sandusky’s We Luv Yogurt. Kappa Co-presidents Dorothy Blackburn and Norma Frederick welcomed 15 members and guests Kara Schoen and Deborah Rellinger.

Flu vaccines available Thursday

Wyandot County Public Health will be administering seasonal flu vaccines to anyone 6 months of age and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky. There is no senior expo during this time.

Halloween events set at library

CAREY — Come join in the Halloween fun at the Dorcas Carey Public Library. A children’s Halloween scavenger hunt for children in preschool through fifth grade is 3:30 p.m. Monday, followed by the movie “Spooky Buddies,” which runs for 80 minutes.

HEAP Winter Crisis Program to assist with heating expenses

FINDLAY — The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2019 Winter Crisis Program begins Nov. 1 and continues through March 31 — as long as funds remain available. This program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.
