Women’s lenten luncheons slated

Lenten Luncheons for Wyandot County Women will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 14, 21 and 28 as well as on March 7, 14 and 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. On Valentine’s Day, the event host will be Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church, the menu is soup and salad and the speaker is Rita Stewart.

Square dance set for Friday

CAREY — A square dance fundraiser is 6:30-10 p.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Consolation Shrine Cafeteria, 315 Clay St., Carey. Money will go to Skylee Lucius, who has Rett Syndrome, a rare genetic mutation that affects the brain development in females.

Bereavement class Feb. 19 in Findlay

FINDLAY — Bridge Bereavement Services will offer a presentation that focuses on taking care of yourself from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 S. Main St., Findlay. Enjoy methods of self-care such as massage, aromatherapy, mindfulness and meditation, humor, blood pressure checks and mood-lifting desserts.

Humane Society: February 6, 2018

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Tuesday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a neutered male chocolate Lab, a neutered male brindle Lab-Shepherd mix, a black and white kitten and a tiger kitten, a male chocolate Lab, a male brindle boxer, a brindle male pit bull and a black and white neutered male pit bull.

Nominations sought for physician of year

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians now is accepting nominations for the 2018 Family Physician of the Year Award. This award recognizes a family physician who has exhibited extraordinary, beyond-the-call-of-duty merit, articulating and encouraging members and students to pursue the ideals of family medicine and convey these ideals to the public.

Meeting minutes: February 5, 2018

A recent Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild meeting was called to order by President Judy Swartz reading “When Nature is in Slumber.” Seventeen members were in attendance. Secretary minutes and the treasurer’s report were read and approved.

Vanguard students visit Statehouse

Sweet treats

FREMONT — Representative Bill Reineke recently hosted Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers at the Statehouse in Columbus. During the visit, students from the culinary arts and hospitality management program had the opportunity to show off their skills to state legislators and other visitors of the Statehouse by serving a variety of sweet treats they created.
