Tiffin Zombie Run supports CASA on Oct 12

The fourth annual Tiffin Zombie Run 5k run/walk fundraiser is Oct. 12, 2019, at Tiffin University Nature Preserve Trail, 2375 W. County Road 26, Tiffin. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race will start at 10 a.m. The award ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and hot dogs, ice cream and other snacks will be available for purchase.

53rd annual Tiffin DC Halloween Parade scheduled Oct. 20

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Developmental Center’s 53rd Annual Halloween Parade is 2 p.m. Oct. 20, rain or shine. The parade route starts at the Chapel parking lot of Tiffin Center traveling west through the grounds to the Huss Street entrance, turning left onto Ohio Avenue then right onto Industrial Ave., right onto Riverside Drive, right onto Huss Street and then left onto River Road North and ending at the ball diamond.

Shrine hosting special October Masses

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, will host several special Masses in October. The first Mass is 7 p.m. Oct. 11 for hope and healing. This Mass is for cancer victims, survivors, caregivers and their loved ones. Following Mass, the Friars will be available for special healing prayers with individual visitors and families. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick also will be available. Since October is known as breast cancer awareness month, the church especially prays for those with this disease.

Upper library hosting SteamPunks event Monday

Upper Sandusky Community Library’s youth group for students in grades 6-12 meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday to decorate bird houses and create a spooky town. Student community service hours are available to those who attend this program. For more information contact the library at 419-294-1345.

Sisters of Saint Francis reveal October events

Science Day for Kids is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, 194 Saint Francis Ave., Tiffin, for ages 5-11. Spend the day outside being a zoologist, delve into the world of salamanders, frogs, toads, reptiles, and other amazing animals. Explore the wetlands, stream and woods to see the right habitat for these animals. Participants should bring a lunch. The program cost is $20. All programs will be led by Sister Shirley, a science teacher for 28 years. To register for the program call FELC at 419-448-7485 or email sshafranek@felctiffin.org. Scholarships are available.

USCL reveals list of October events

Creative Pastimes is 10-11:30 a.m. Oct. 1 and 15. Those who enjoy crafts, painting, sewing, or other hobbies may bring what they are working on and join others. This group is open to anyone who wants to work on their project in the company of others.

USCL hosting Crafternoon on Wednesday

All ages are invited to join the Upper Sandusky Community Library for a fun seasonal craft at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. All supplies will be provided and reservations are not necessary. For more information contact the library at 419-294-1345.
