USV gets steal and bucket at buzzer to knock off Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Upper Scioto Valley pulled out a thriller on the mitts of Alyssa Miller. With 2.3 seconds remaining in a tie game and Mohawk inbounding with the full court to go, Miller stretched out her palms, knocked Grace Morehart’s quarterback-style pass down, quickly corralled the ball and layed in as time expired to lift the Rams over the Warriors, 38-36, in a grind-it-out, non-league regular season finale.

Winter Olympians

Three Wyandot County athletes recently competed in the Special Olympics Winter Games at Brandywine Ski Resort. Connor Swartz (left) earned gold in downhill and bronze in slalom, Clayton Miller (center) won silver in the alpine glide, and Heather Kuenzli received gold in both 100 and 500 cross country.

Garage catches fire in Sycamore

SYCAMORE — Law enforcement officials responded to a report of a small garage fire in Sycamore on Tuesday evening. Two people received minor misdemeanor citations for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia upon investigation. According to a report from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to 334 Kilborn St. around 5:20 p.m. after the office received a call from a “passerby” about a garage fire.

Rams cap 16-0 season in N10

Upper Sandusky capped off an undefeated season in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play with a resounding 50-26 victory against Colonel Crawford on Tuesday night. The Rams shot 63.3 percent while holding the Eagles to 31.4 percent shooting to win big on senior night, which was concluded with a celebration of the team’s first league championship in four years.
