To run a business meeting right, correct parliamentary procedure, or parli pro, should be used. Parli pro helps a meeting to run smoothly and efficiently. It preserves the rights of the minority, yet lets the majority rule. Parli pro allows members to address items of business and change or modify that business to fit the wishes of the organization. Parli pro also allows members to deal with issues or concerns that arise during the discussion of business in a way that is courteous to all. Some of these abilities include amending a motion, referring an item to a committee, rescinding a motion or rising to a point of order.

CAREY — In recognition of his service to the Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education, board members presented board member Mark Armstrong with a going-away gift — a plaque — during Monday’s meeting.

Area residents celebrated the holiday season by attending the annual Home for the Holidays celebration in Upper this past weekend.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky took first place in eight of 13 weight class to dominate the Bucyrus Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday. The Rams scored 251.5 points, with second-place Lakota scoring 169.5.

SHELBY — Not every boys basketball team will win every game during the regular season. Even fewer will win every regular season game in back-to-back seasons as well as the first few contests the following season.

SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky’s boys took second place and the girls tied for third Saturday in the A-BEHR Invitational swim meet Saturday at “The Tank” at Sandusky. Sandusky’s boys scored 205 points to take the championship, with Upper Sandusky (168 points) edging Huron (164) and Sandusky St. Mary (161) for second.

CAREY — It may have just been Upper Sandusky’s opener in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, but it was obvious from the atmosphere just how much this one game meant. Sadie Arend missed a baseline jumper in the closing seconds, and the Rams held off Carey, 51-50, in a packed gym Friday night at Carey.
