VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.. — The 2017-18 OHSAA wrestling season may be over, but Upper Sandusky High School senior Noah Clary hasn’t stopped adding to the list of accomplishments in his career. Clary placed fourth at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Nationals — which the top eight wrestlers from all 14 weight classes in each state have the chance to compete in — from March 23-25 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

The Wyandot County Council on Aging is raising awareness for its lunch program by inviting community members to special lunches. Last week, it was walking tacos and Wednesday, it was lasagna.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Jonathan Walter doubled in Alec Loveridge with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Riverdale a 3-2 victory against Hopewell-Loudon in the teams’ Blanchard Valley Conference opener Wednesday.

The second Farmer’s Appreciation Breakfast was held from Tuesday morning at the Sycamore Community Center. Farmers and community leaders from Wyandot and Seneca counties were invited to the event, which was hosted by the First National Bank of Sycamore.

The Upper Sandusky Middle School wrestling team recently held an awards banquet at The Village Restaurant. Northern 10 Athletic Conference champions honored were Cameron Vince, 122 pounds; Lane Montgomery, 128; Karson Alban, 134; Aiden Gallant, 142; Braxton Johnson, 150; and Carson Vanhorn, 172.

The Upper Sandusky Police Department did some community outreach yesterday when its K-9 unit D’jeki and Officer Andrew Silcox, provided a demonstration on locating drugs for residents at Fairhaven Community.

The What’s Cookin’ recipe group met Monday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The potluck dinner theme was brunch.

KENTON — Leading by one, Kenton scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and then held off Upper Sandusky, 6-3, in a nonconference baseball season opener Monday at Kenton. After the Rams (0-1) scored a run in the first inning, the Wildcats evened the game with one in the second and then took the lead with a two-run third inning.

The Carey baseball team never lost hope. Trailing by one run in the top of the seventh inning, the Blue Devils erased the deficit by scoring six runs on four hits to take a five-run lead into the bottom of the inning.
