CAREY — Carey coach Joey Roark spent hours getting the field ready, all the while his seniors got themselves prepared. The Blue Devils got key plays from their seniors and opened Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play with a 4-0 victory against rival Upper Sandusky on Monday.

CAREY — Heading into the 2018 season, there was one matchup Carey senior pitcher Blayc Hacker anxiously looked forward to. It was the day when her Carey softball team would face the Upper Sandusky Rams, the team she played for as a freshman, sophomore and junior before electing to transfer to Carey for her senior year.

Hundreds of children and their parents took part in the Easter egg hunt sponsored by Apostolic Gospel Church on Saturday at Harrison Smith Park. Church members also did a skit and gave away prizes and snacks.

Carey shine at Blue Devils Relays

CAREY — For the 17th time in the last 19 years, the Carey girls track team won the Blue Devil Relays, the relays event they host on their own track each year. Thanks to their five first-place finishes and seven second-place finishes in various events, the Blue Devils accumulated 135 points, 26 points higher than the second place team, Willard, at the Blue Devil Relays on Saturday at Carey High School.

LIMA — It started with a text, and eventually, employees and seniors from the Wyandot County Council on Aging and Marion County Council on Aging came together for something they had never done. Ron Boose, assistant to the directors for the WCCOA, received a text message from MCCOA Activities Director Kristi Wink and learned MCCOA employees were planning to take seniors on a tour of the Wilson Sporting Goods Factory in Ada and return to Upper Sandusky for lunch and dessert.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.. — The 2017-18 OHSAA wrestling season may be over, but Upper Sandusky High School senior Noah Clary hasn’t stopped adding to the list of accomplishments in his career. Clary placed fourth at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Nationals — which the top eight wrestlers from all 14 weight classes in each state have the chance to compete in — from March 23-25 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
