BUCYRUS — One of the reasons for the 2018 Carey baseball team’s success in the early portion of the 2018 season has been their ability to score late in games. On Wednesday, trailing by one run in the top of the sixth inning, the Blue Devils scored three runs.

Mohawk’s Oler signs with Ashland

SYCAMORE — She considered many Division I, II and NAIA colleges, but after visiting Division II Ashland University, Mohawk’s Destini Oler made return visits to the campus, becoming more impressed each time. On Wednesday, Oler, surrounded by her family and coaches, signed her national letter of intent to run cross country and track at Ashland University.

Rotary Club honors Stoneburner

Upper Sandusky resident Jan Stoneburner was honored Monday evening by the Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky as the 2018 Service Above Self award winner. The Service Above Self award is presented annually to an individual who lives or works in Wyandot County and who had demonstrated outstanding humanitarian service locally, regionally, or on the world at large beyond the scope of their employment.

Carey holds off Mohawk, 7-4

SYCAMORE — Carey scored three times in each of the first two innings and then held off Mohawk, 7-4, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Monday. The Blue Devils (5-0, 4-0 N10) scored another run in the fifth inning, while the Warriors (4-4, 2-3 N10) scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the seventh, leaving one runner on base when the final out was recorded.

St. Peter School has expanded events

What started as a single festival has grown into six community events this spring to help support St. Peter School in Upper Sandusky. “We really wanted to bring the community together and get everyone involved with some fun events to provide the opportunity for fellowship,” Matthew Arnold, one of the event organizers, said.
